The Science Cheerleader and Going Pro Entertainment present, the Science Cheerleaders: professional cheerleaders-turned-scientists! Watch them perform science-themed dances; join them for free cheerleading clinics; then meet them in the Science Cheerleader area where they will autograph their baseball cards and discuss what it's like to bridge the two seemingly different worlds of science and cheerleading.

Nationally known, Science Cheerleader is a network of 250 current and former NFL and NBA professional cheerleaders pursuing science and technology careers and whose mission is to encourage young students to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The organization also works to promote the involvement of citizens in science and science-related policy.

Science Cheerleader was founded by Darlene Cavalier, a former cheerleader for the Philadelphia 76ers and who currently is a senior adviser and writer at Discover magazine. In addition to Science Cheerleaders, Darlene's other start-ups include SciStarter.com, an online network which enables citizen scientists worldwide to connect with researchers and others to find out about, take part in, and contribute to science through research projects and recreational activities. She has also created science initiatives for, among others, the Disney Institute, Space.com, Sally Ride’ås Imaginary Lines, and the Franklin Institute.

Between the performances of the Science Cheerleaders at the Festival Expo, be sure to interact with these role models while participating in their "citizen science" activities at the SciStarter booth where you can help researchers classify galaxies, dig through real fossil matrix, or even categorize whale songs and much more!
