Hear these authors talk about their books and adventures, April 26-27, 2014, plus get your favorite must-have books autographed (books will also be availble for purchase). The Book Fair will also feature STEM-related games toys and learning kits for kids of all ages, and those who are kids at heart!
Here are just some of the remarkable authors who are sure to wow you:
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Since this basketball icon retired from the NBA, he's become recognized for another noted endeavor: motivating and inspiring young students, especially low-income kids, in education and STEM. His recent work, What Color Is My World?: The Lost History of African-American Inventors, is a children's book covering the impact of African-American inventors, and reached #3 on the New York Times Best Sellers List.
David A. Aguilar. This noted astronomer is Director of Science Information at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge and author and illustrator of seven National Geographic books on astronomy, including the newly released Alien Worlds, which examines just how surreal alien life may be throughout the Universe.
Rebecca Klemm. Known as "The Numbers Lady," Dr. Klemm is an accomplished mathematician, statistician and award-winning author who founded NumbersAlive! to share her love of numbers and promote numerical literacy and global citizenship. Her newest book, Hello Numbers, introduces young children to the fun and friendly number characters of Team Ten (numbers 0 to 9).
Jason Chin. He is the author and illustrator of such acclaimed works as Island: A Story of the Galapagos, which received high praise from critics -- including the New York Times, Publisher's Weekly, and School and Library Journal -- for it's remarkable introduction to the science of the Galapagos. His newest book Gravity, is scheduled for release April 29, 2014.
Lynn Brunelle. This former classroom teacher, editor and illustrator is a four-time Emmy Award–winning writer for "Bill Nye the Science Guy," and has created and written projects for such outlets as National Geographic, Scholastic, Disney and the Discovery Channel. Her current books are Pop Bottle Science and Camp Out!
Remember, the Festival Expo Book Fair is FREE, and author presentations begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, D.C. on the EXPO Concourse Hall C.
