We have taken over the entire Walter E. Washington Convention Center for the week leading up to the Expo, making DC truly the place to be for the latest in STEM. This includes us having ample space at the Convention Center to host super cool STEM events, workshops and other activities being organized by Organizations during the Expo. Why not be part of our "Super Bowl of STEM" and showcase your exciting and unique endeavors in research, outreach and professional development to others in your field!
Here is a look at the growing list of other exciting STEM activities taking place in conjunction with the Festival Expo at the Convention Center:
The U.S. News STEM Solutions Conference:
To coincide with Expo Week, the Festival has joined with U.S. News & World Report to host this major gathering of STEM and industry leaders on April 23-25, 2014 at the Convention Center. Expo exhibitors are invited to attend the conference to gain heightened insight into timely issues impacting STEM. STEM Solutions will bring together more than 2,000 leaders and visionaries in business, education, and government from around the United States to advance the agenda for national change in STEM education, policy and workforce development. Free Conference Room Space for Science Teacher Associations and STEM Outreach Organizations:
In our mission to support educators, we are offering FREE conference room space at the Convention Center to science teacher associations and other organizations who would like to host an event such as a teacher workshop or professional development workshop that offers valuable tips and resources for teachers and/or parents and kids to take back to the classrooms! Already, several partner organizations are taking advantage of this offer, including the National Math + Science Initiative, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and many others! We invite you to contact us if you are a science teacher association or organization who has an idea for an event that would fit well with the Festival mission.
National Contest Finales and Awards:
Several partnering organizations are hosting their national contests, which will culminate at the Festival Finale Expo! These include: the KidWind Challenge to build the world's most powerful wind turbine; the Kavli Foundation which will challenge kids in science and engineering innovation; and the American Mathematical Society with its exciting "Who Wants to be a Mathematician" competition.
