Top Air Force Association Award for Outstanding Contributions to Aerospace Education for the Festival!
The USA Science & Engineering Festival has been selected to receive the 2013 Hoyt S. Vandenberg Award of the Air Force Association (AFA) in recognition of the Festival's contributions to aerospace education and for its efforts in encouraging youths to pursue the fields of science and engineering.
The Vandenberg Award, one of the AFA's highest honors, will be presented to the Festival this September at a special ceremony held in conjunction with the opening of the 2013 Air & Space Conference and Technology Exposition in National Harbor, Maryland.
In announcing the award to the Festival, AFA Chairman of the Board George K. Muellner said: "This award is given for the most outstanding contributions in aerospace education. We applaud the distinguished success of the Festival in its unique ways to increase public awareness about the importance of science and to encourage youth to pursue careers in science and engineering."
The Hoyt S. Vandenberg Award was established in 1948, and past recipients include Arthur Godfrey, prominent radio and television personality and aviation advocate (1955), Famous Psychologist Dr. B. F. Skinner (1966), the Civil Air Patrol (2002), Steven Udvar-Hazy, then Chairman and CEO of International Lease Finance Corp. -- one of the largest aircraft lessors in the world (2005), and Ross Perot, Jr.,Chairman of Perot Systems Corporation (2007).

Joe Kennedy (D) in urging Congress to vote for H.Res. 276, which calls upon the U.S. House of Representatives to support the goals and ideals of National Science Week and the biennial USA Science & Engineering Festival in Washington, D.C.. The resolution also calls on State and local governments to recognize the last week in April, 2014 as a National Science Week.
