K-12 classroom teachers: We're proud to introduce another exciting way to motivate your students in STEM! You can do it on a regular basis by accessing the Festival's new, convenient and FREE online video library collection featuring some of the nation's most high-profile role models in STEM from our recent X-STEM Extreme Symposium speaker presentations in April, 2014.
Ranging from amazing space exploration heroes and heroines to phenomenal inventors, oceanographers, storm chasers and entrepreneurial startup geniuses, these videos feature visionaries on the cutting edge of their professions. The collection is available to teachers everywhere, giving K-12 educators the opportunity to bring leading scientists, engineers and innovators into the classroom to excite students about STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics)!
The video compilation was inspired by the X-STEM Extreme Symposium -- a major component of the Festival Expo which is presented by Northrop Grumman Foundation and MedImmune for middle through high school students. The symposium features interactive presentations and workshops by an exclusive group of visionaries to empower and motivate kids in the careers and the wonders of STEM. (Note: Don't forget to mark your calendar for the next X-STEM gatherings in Washington, D.C. on April 28, 2015, and later in 2016).
The video collection, the latest exciting teacher resource launched by the Festival and geared for elementary through high school students, brings these unforgettable X-STEM speaker presentations together at one online location. The collection consists of individual 15-20 minute videos featuring a wide array of X-STEM speakers and role models, Including:
-- Learn about the the physics of superheroes with Dr. James Kakalios
-- Get excited about math with Co-Executive Director of The National Museum of Mathematics Dr. Glen Whitney
-- Journey to an underwater field exploration with Mr. Jason Osborne and Dr. Aaron Alford
